Somerville Memorial service for David Glenn Alexander, 53, of Somerville will be Saturday, December 4, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home Chapel. Mr. Alexander, who died Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at his residence, was born June 13, 1957, in Etowah County to Herbert Alexander and Martha Lee Alexander. He was preceded in death by his mother and one brother, Randall Mack Alexander. He is survived by his father; one son, Jeremiah Bryant Alexander of Somerville; three stepsons, Scott, Brandon and Andrew; two brothers, Stephen Lee Alexander of Hartselle, and Gregory Alan Alexander of Somerville; one sister, Ann Alexander Cagle of Somerville; and two grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or your favorite charity. |

Mr. Holmes was born June 15, 1957, in Hartselle to Emern A. Holmes Jr. and Bonnie G. Holmes. He was employed by OCI Chemical as a chemical technician. He was a member of Fairview Church of God in Falkville. His father preceded him in death. Kenny was a great man, loving husband, and compassionate father. He had a passion for life that anyone who met him noticed in just a short time. He loved the Lord and served Him daily. He enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Kelly, and farming with his son on their family farm. Kenny will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 9 at Peck Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, February 25, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Fairview Church of God in Falkville. Burial service will follow at Hamby’s Chapel Cemetery in Eva. Survivors include his wife Kelly Holmes; two sons, Zachary Holmes and his wife, Erika, of Gardendale; stepson, Tyler Childers of Eva; stepdaughter, Katie Childers of Hartselle; mother, Bonnie G. Holmes of Eva; half brother, Raymond L. Cheatham of Eva; four nephews, Corey Cheatham and his wife, Brandi, of Eva, Robert Cheatham and his wife, Candia, of Decatur, and Blake Puckett and Jarred Puckett, both of Falkville; two nieces, Casey Sandlin and her husband, Greg, of Eva and Hannah Puckett of Falkville; three great-nieces, Alyssa, Anna and Isabel, all of Eva; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Waldrop of Falkville; father-in-law, Steve Nelson and his wife, Melba, of Hartselle; and sister-in-law, Connie Puckett and her husband, Troy, of Falkville. Pallbearers will be David Cameron, Mike Cox, Derek Armstrong, Zac Shelton, Larry Clopton and Gerald Hill. |

April 14, 1929 - May 26, 2009 Nell Ree Tucker, 80, of Huntsville passed peacefully away Tuesday. Even in the shadow of death, she was a witness for Christ and His love. Her humble faith defined her and inspired anyone whose life she touched. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James Roy Tucker; their daughter, Elizabeth Faye Campbell and her husband Scott; their son, James Roy Tucker Jr. and his wife Shaye; their granddaughter, Shanna Campbell Brodbeck and her husband Christian; her brother, Ollie; her sister, Sereda; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She also shared her love and faith with their adopted son, K.C. Thomaskutty and his wife J. Mary; their grandchildren, Champ, Christy, and Christopher Thomaskutty and his wife, Hilary; and their great-grandchildren, Ella and Kieran. Additionally, she is survived by her many friends and fellow residents of Magnolia Trace. She will be greatly missed but her friends and family are grateful for the 80 wonderful years they shared with their sweet Nell.

Hope Sivley Smith went to her heavenly home on May 23, 2008. She was born in 1918 in Moulton, lived most of her life in Decatur, then came to live near her daughter in Chattanooga in 1999. Hope graduated from Moulton High School, then worked for the telephone company. She married John Cowden Smith in 1940 and lived for short periods in Huntsville and Sheffield. She moved back to Decatur in 1950 and was a homemaker and raised her two children there. In 1970, at the age of 50, she graduated Cum-Laude from Athens College with degrees in History and English. She taught at Brewer High School for 10 years, where her students and fellow teachers remember her with love and respect. She lived a life of faith and was a member of Central United Methodist Church for over 50 years, where she taught and worked with children for 15 years. She was instrumental in starting the church library and was librarian for several years and a devoted lifetime member of United Methodist Women. In Chattanooga, she joined Brainerd United Methodist Church, where she had been faithful for eight years, and taught the Crossroads Sunday school class until the age of 89. She was a great letter writer and at age 89, still wrote to childhood friends and family. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Smith; her parents, Inez and Oliver Sivley; brother, Hudson Sivley; and an infant son, John Ronald Smith. Her survivors include her two children, Barry Smith and Janelle Elayan, to whom she was a devoted mother; one brother, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She will be sadly missed on this earth by her family and friends, but they are left with wonderful happy memories. Heaven has received a new angel. |
